The successful candidate will define and implement appropriate information management (IM) actions and technologies to facilitate and automate the flow of information within the global regulatory function to ensure prompt distribution of knowledge for the enhancement of users' productivity. When the IM solutions require the use of corporate information systems (I/S) developers, the business analyst ensures adequate communication between the I/S team and the users to ensure the delivery of the desired functionality. Users of these solutions are those who retrieve, compile and analyze data to respond to specific regulatory issues or needs.
This position resides in the IM department within the global regulatory function whose mission is to secure and maintain the registration of Dow AgroSciences products with global regulatory agencies.
Primary responsibilities:
* Analyze, define, harmonize and document the flow of information from functional and corporate systems through departmental work processes in coordination with work process experts.
* Define, gain acceptance of, develop and implement appropriate software/systems solutions for improving the efficiency of information flow and use within the function and, if needed, across R&D
* Plan and coordinate more complex system development and evolution activities in partnership with corporate I/S development personnel and the users
* Collaborate with work process experts and other business analysts to harmonize standards and common codes and define business rules for efficient systems operation
* Generate user documentation and training materials and ensure users are adequately trained with the assistance of the system administrator
* Ensure that data dictionaries are maintained by the system administrator and database entry models are followed by study entry personnel according to established business rules
This position is located in Indianapolis, IN, USA.
* Bachelors or Masters degree in biotech/biology /chemistry with highly developed computer science knowledge and skills, or a Bachelor's degree in computer science with biotech/biology /chemistry knowledge and experience.
* IM system development experience is highly desirable.
* Proficiency in VBA, ASP.Net and SQL is highly desirable.
* Experience with an electronic notebook and/or LIMS system is desirable.
* Experience in system design, system analysis, and project management is highly desirable.
* Experience and successful application of relational databases is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated proficiency and understanding in R&D systems and IM project management are highly desirable.
* Experience as a computer system user liaison is mandatory.
* Experience and training with process definition.
* Strong problem solving skills.
* Strong interpersonal and logic skills are essential for success.
* Demonstrated organization, leadership, interpretative communications, and presentations skills are critical.
* Ability to interact with a broad scope of users in various scientific disciplines and geographies is essential.
