Dow AgroSciences Canada Inc. is a research based, agricultural sciences company with a diverse product portfolio including weed, insect and disease management for agricultural/horticultural crops and products for forestry and industrial vegetation management. The company has also made significant investments in developing a plant genetics and biotechnology platform in canola and corn. This investment is focused on a range of research for the development of input production traits and value-added quality traits. Dow AgroSciences has established field research capabilities across western and eastern Canada including a plant breeding and cell biology group based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
The field trial compliance specialist role is to ensure that field research conducted in Dow AgroSciences' field stations and in contracted field research facilities in Canada are in compliance with relevant Canadian regulations and all applicable Dow AgroSciences internal standards. The Compliance Specialist will also be working closely with global staff located in the United States.
Primary Job Responsibilities
* Ensure that required permits are coordinated in conjunction with local and international staff.
* Develop and deliver the global field trial compliance process in Canada, leveraging relevant processes from local sources as well as DAS international experience.
* Own, maintain, and deliver compliance training for regulated field research trials in Canada.
* Manage compliance audits.
* Support adoption of effective and consistent regulated seed storage and movement practices at R&D facilities in Canada.
* Support development and adoption of effective and consistent handling and control of transgenic traits across all types of research.
* Deliver biosafety training and conduct biosafety audits at R&D facilities in Canada.
* Coordinate or deliver regulatory advice regarding the review of land use and research cooperator contracts and contracting processes that influence transgenic trait stewardship effectiveness.
* Provide support to policy and process identification, development, and refinement to improve stewardship effectiveness and balance R&D resources.
This position is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

A minimum of a Masters degree in biology, agriculture, or life sciences is required.

Ideally 3-5 years of experience in conducting field trials with regulated transgenic crops or in other highly regulated areas is preferred.

Five or more years of field experience is highly preferred.

Travel is required for this position. Travel time varies between 10 - 25% annually.
